Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, inaugurated on April 3, 2019, is much more than the home of Tottenham Hotspur FC; it's a modern entertainment colossus in London. With a capacity for 62,850 fans, this venue stands as the largest club stadium in the English capital. Its most revolutionary feature is the world's first dividing, retractable football pitch, which slides away to reveal a synthetic turf designed specifically for NFL games, concerts, and other major events. The stadium's asymmetrical design, with its imposing single-tier South Stand holding 17,500 people, creates exceptional acoustics and an intimidating atmosphere. Beyond its technology, the stadium offers a premium experience with a wide variety of bars, restaurants, and facilities, making it a 365-day-a-year destination and redefining the spectator experience in the UK.
Tottenham Hotspur FC, founded by a group of schoolboys in 1882 as Hotspur FC, is one of English football's most traditional and storied clubs. Based in Tottenham, North London, the club adopted its current name in 1884 and quickly became a competitive force, famously winning the FA Cup in 1901 as a non-League team—a unique achievement to this day. This early success laid the foundation for a history marked by ambition and an attractive style of play, summarized in their famous Latin motto: "Audere est Facere" (To Dare Is to Do).
The club's golden era arrived in the 1960s under the management of Bill Nicholson, when they became the first team in the 20th century to achieve the League and Cup Double in the 1960-61 season. This milestone was followed by victory in the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1963, making them the first British club to lift a major European trophy. Over the decades, Spurs have maintained their top-tier status, winning multiple FA Cups, League Cups, and two UEFA Cups.
Today, the team competes at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, a state-of-the-art venue opened in 2019 that is widely regarded as one of the best in the world. With a capacity of 62,850, the stadium is not only a fortress for the team but also a symbol of the club's modernity and future aspirations. The passion of its supporters and its rich history ensure that every match is a complete experience of tradition and pride.
